Under the Sun Pottery Fun will be leading a pottery painting workshop this summer on June 23! You will get to paint your own pencil cup. The pottery shop will fire the pieces, and you’ll be able to pick up your creation a week later at the library. How cool is that?

New Graphic Novels ordered March 1, 2010

I just ordered a lot of new graphic novels, so be looking for those on our shelves very soon. One new series is called ‘We Were There’ by Obato and they have been pretty popular at other libraries.  You’ll probably need to get on a hold list, so check out our online catalog (there’s a link in the right sidebar).

We Were There Nanami Takahashi falls for Motoharu Yano, the most popular, carefree boy in class. For Nanami, it’s first love, but Yano is still grieving the death of his girlfriend who died the year before.

Other Graphic Novels on order:
Children of the Sea
Daisuke Igarshi
Kyo Kara MAOH!
Temari Matsumoto
Ooku: The Inner Chambers
Fumi Yoshinaga

Leave us a comment if there is a series we don’t have that you are interested in us purchasing for the library!

From School Library Journal
Grade 10 Up—After losing her best friend, Ingrid, to suicide, Caitlin is completely immobilized. Unable to function, and refusing to visit a therapist, she begins the long journey to wellness alone. During this year of heart-wrenching, raw emotion, Caitlin finds Ingrid’s journal, which not only reveals her descent into irreversible depression, but also serves as Caitlin’s vehicle for renewed hope in the future. The book is written with honesty, revealing one’s pain after the loss of a loved one. Caitlin learns, with the help of new friends and her parents, that there is life after Ingrid.
